You're right, however, you could probably find a used OEM one for ~$100 and a flywheel for about the same after getting it resurfaced. If you bought the engine from a wrecker, more than likely it'll include a clutch, or at minimum, the flywheel. They're not petty to try to sell single items, they just want it GONE. > Plus you describe a lot of "deferred" maintenance items > that I guess you will just change later. Deferred is right, because as I said, do everything in moderation. Only things that require a motor pull, do it now. As regards to the regulator and dampener, I've never bought a new one of either and I have 20 spares. What else really requires maintenance right away that are related to the TT swap other than timing belt and motor mounts? Not much... > And the wiring harness will require another motor pull > when the time comes. Yes, but I'll say this. I've *never* had to chase a problem where a wire had sheared in the middle of a harness in any of the cars I've worked on, even the most crackling ugly ones. I suggest that replacement be done on the *next* motor pull when your turbos are blown and you're upgrading! > Re: JDM downpipes: sure its personal choice. ConVerTT > v1.0 had them for a while too. It's not even in a budget to save a *little* extra. It's the difference between $250 vs $700+$400 because there is only really one option ;) It's a big ass difference! > But...I do appreciate your detailed rebuttal. Front bumpers could be found for ~$200 and hopefully the same colour as yours. I guess the consensus is: there's the "right" way, there's the acceptable way. The acceptable will get you to where you would be if you bought a native TT, and the right way is where you want to be. It all comes down to money. The acceptable way is waaaaay cheaper, and in my opinion, acceptable!
